The author conceived the idea of the publication in parallel with the opening of the Szent István hall, the historical exhibition and the contemporary installation of Sámuel Havadtői. The concept was to publish a publication that presents the admonitions of the Founder of the State not only in Hungarian and English, but also in parallel, in the original Latin language. When designing the publication, the concept was the design of a current book with a contemporary typeface set in a classic text mirror. We considered it essential that, in addition to the content elements, the formal elements and colors evoke the atmosphere of the exhibition.
Gold and Silver
The text contents were printed in different colors - gold and silver paint - for each language. An important aspect of the folding was that the content in different languages could be read side by side, in parallel, and that the footnotes were not placed at the end of the publication as endnotes.
The Cover
The typography for the cover was inspired by the first page of the original text of Admotions (which was published in 1027). The contemporary transcription enriched with ligatures is both traditional and contemporary.
