The Hungarian House of Music is a truly vibrant community space that serves as one of the key meeting places for Hungarian musical life, and we were responsible for designing and developing its image.
If you are walking in the forest and see a circle painted on a tree, you are heading in the right direction towards a spring. The logo was inspired by a quote from one of Hungary's greatest composers, pianists and folk music researchers, Béla Bartók: "Only from pure sources," which refers to the fact that folk music is the source of inspiration for classical music. The logo also draws inspiration from the circular forest sign that marks the paths leading to springs or other places with drinking water. In addition, the Hungarian House of Music is located in the City Park, in the center of Budapest, in a green environment reminiscent of a forest.
“The Hungarian House of Music is being built in a park. The first thing that came to mind was that I would be playing music in nature. That's why I wanted to place the two ground-floor auditoriums in such a way that they would be connected to the park. While most concert halls are closed boxes, I dreamed of open spaces where natural light could filter in, from which you could see nature, and which could also be seen from the Liget. I wanted it to be a liberating space in a conceptual sense, and in practice, to offer the opportunity to listen to high-quality music while respecting the beautiful surroundings.

Just as the most important message of the building's philosophy is intertwining and merging with nature, we also took this as our main goal when designing the logo and image: the rippling of water and the glimmer of light streaming through the trees were all important sources of inspiration.
